United States President Donald Trump has barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from attending press events at the White House, accusing the major news networks and political journalism website of publishing propaganda and deceptive coverage regarding his administration.
Announcing the decision via Truth Social, the president asserted that news organisations “shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report fiction or lies” when covering executive branch affairs, adding that additional media outlets producing what he terms “fake news” could face similar press credential revocations.

During a press briefing in the Oval Office, President Trump defended the ban when questioned on constitutional press freedoms and whether the move was intended to intimidate journalists.

The media sanctions coincided with broader criticisms directed at other major American news organisations. The president targeted Fox News over its recent public opinion surveys, claiming the network utilises “the worst polls in the whole business” and suggesting its polling department should have been replaced years ago.
Additionally, President Trump characterised coverage by The Washington Post as dishonest while denying accusations that his administration is suppressing freedom of the press. He maintained that executive actions are targeted specifically against inaccurate reporting rather than free expression.
