A 36-year-old registered sex offender, Babatunde Odutola, has been sentenced to 44 weeks in prison in the United Kingdom after exposing himself and masturbating in front of a lone female passenger on a Manchester-bound train.
The ruling was delivered at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 14, 2026, after Odutola, who is of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to charges of outraging public decency and breaching a prior suspended sentence order.
Rapid response leads to conviction within 72 hours
According to statements released by the British Transport Police (BTP), the incident took place around 7:00 PM on Friday, September 11, aboard a service traveling through Cheshire toward Manchester Piccadilly station.
Investigators noted that Odutola, who was in a wheelchair, approached a woman traveling by herself, looked at her in an intimidating manner, and became aggressive when she declined to interact with him.
He subsequently exposed himself, began masturbating while making crude remarks, and ignored her distress until a fellow passenger intervened to escort the victim to another carriage.
Security camera footage revealed that Odutola continued the act in full view of other commuters until BTP officers intercepted and arrested him upon arrival at Manchester Piccadilly.
Overwhelming evidence forces guilty plea
Detective Constable Leonidas Christoforou praised the swift resolution of the case, which moved from arrest to sentencing within 72 hours. Although Odutola initially denied the accusations during police questioning, investigators compiled clear CCTV footage and multiple witness statements that left him unable to contest the charges in court.
Police officials emphasized that holding repeat, predatory offenders accountable remains a top priority across the national rail network, encouraging passengers who witness or experience sexual misconduct to report incidents immediately via SMS to BTP’s dedicated 61016 line.
