A resident of Onitsha, Anambra State, Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi, has recounted how he learned about allegations that his 36-year-old wife, Anulika Onyeanusia, sexually abused their minor daughter and distributed the explicit content online for financial gain.
The suspect was arrested on September 10, 2026, by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command following an open-source intelligence trace triggered by a viral video showing a woman abusing a minor with adult novelties.
Discovery and initial denial
Onyeanyusi explained in a video published by the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare that he was unaware of the footage until a friend confronted him with the media on Thursday evening.
“I saw the video. It was my wife, and I saw my daughter,” Onyeanyusi stated. “I got confused. Could this be true? Immediately, I wanted to leave, but my friend held me back and told me to calm down.”
When he confronted his wife at their residence, she initially denied the video’s authenticity, claiming the imagery was generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
Shortly thereafter, police officers arrived to search the premises, recovering evidence including illicit items and taking the suspect into custody.
Admissions and law enforcement findings
During interrogation at the police station, the suspect confessed to the act, confirming that her husband had no prior knowledge or involvement in the abuse.
In a separate video recorded during police questioning, Onyeanusia admitted to uploading explicit videos of her child to commercial adult websites to earn income, stating she received payments reaching up to $300 per upload. She attributed her actions to bad influence and appealed for leniency.
Police operatives rescued four children—aged two, three, six, and nine—from the home during the operation. The suspect remains in custody pending formal court arraignment.
Government response and child protection frameworks
The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, condemned the incident, describing the act as a severe violation of child safety and human decency.
She assured the public that the state government will ensure full legal prosecution while providing comprehensive medical, psychological, and rehabilitation support for the rescued children.
Child protection advocates emphasise that commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and cyber-enabled child abuse are severe offences under the Child Rights Act and the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act of Nigeria.
Law enforcement agencies continue to expand digital forensic capabilities to track and prosecute offenders operating across online platforms.
