Tinubu orders arrest, suspends three permanent secretaries as ICPC uncovers fourth fake agency
President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate suspension of three federal permanent secretaries and ordered the arrest of a suspect following the discovery of an unauthorised agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The suspended top civil servants are M.S. Danjuma, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The directives were issued after the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu (SAN), briefed the President at the State House.
Illegal office space allocated inside OSGF
The newly uncovered entity, operating as the “National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office,” had been illegally allocated office space inside the OSGF complex without presidential authorisation or legal backing.
According to the ICPC boss, the fraudulent office was promoted by one George Buchi Nwabueze with suspected insider collaboration. Investigators revealed that Nwabueze operated using multiple aliases, including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Honourable George Buchi Nwabueze, and Prince George Buchi Nwabueze.
The ICPC has engaged officials within the OSGF to determine how the unauthorised entity secured government accommodation and was allowed to operate under an official appearance.
Fourth fake agency exposed in ongoing probe
This latest exposure marks the fourth fictitious body uncovered since the ICPC launched a broader investigation into federal administrative vulnerabilities.
The probe originally stemmed from the exposure of the illegal Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), whose self-styled Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, is currently facing forgery and impersonation charges.
Previous ICPC interim reports had also exposed two other unauthorised entities: the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership.
