An investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered the operational setup of an illegal government entity styled as the “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.” 

Operating without presidential approval, the syndicate setup claimed spatial backing within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and established an extensive administrative framework spanning 20 Nigerian states and two foreign nations.

President Bola Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of the agency’s primary promoter, alongside the suspension of three permanent secretaries linked to the unauthorised allocation of office space.

The organisation operated under a structured leadership team, led by a primary promoter utilising multiple aliases, including George Nathan Nwabueze, Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, and Hon. Nwabueze George.

This development marks the latest effort by anti-corruption authorities to dismantle fictitious public institutions. 

The ICPC has previously uncovered similar fraudulent operations, including the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, the FCT Investment Promotion Agency, and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership.
