Filipino singer and content creator Vanessa Blanca Quillo Rangadhol, best known for her role in GMA’s pre-teen music group Sugarpop and the viral hit Dota o Ako, has passed away at the age of 30.
The performer died on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, following a domestic accident at her condominium in Manila.
Accidental fall leads to brain injury
Her cousin, Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag, confirmed the tragedy in a series of social media statements, clarifying the events leading to her passing.
According to her family, Blanca tripped and fell while getting dressed in the bathroom, striking her head against the floor. The impact caused severe internal brain hemorrhaging.
Although her companions immediately called for an ambulance, emergency responders failed to arrive within 15 minutes.
Her friends attempted to rush her to the nearest hospital using a wheelchair, but medical staff were unable to save her.
“Vanessa sustained severe traumatic brain injury resulting in an internal brain hemorrhage following an accidental fall,” Jubelag stated, appealing for privacy on behalf of the family.
Tributes from Sugarpop bandmates
News of her death sparked an outpouring of grief across the Philippine music industry.
Former Sugarpop bandmates—including Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario, and Cholo Bismonte—paid tribute to Blanca on social media, sharing details of her wake alongside nostalgic photos from their early career.
Blanca first gained prominence as a finalist on GMA Network’s Popstar Kids before joining Sugarpop in 2006. She later achieved viral fame in 2011 after collaborating with rapper Aikee on the hit track Dota o Ako.
