Medical practitioner Dr. Olusina Ajidahun, widely known on social media as “The Bearded Dr Sina,” has weighed in on statements made by the daughters of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), clarifying that moving an advanced cancer patient off active chemotherapy reflects standard terminal care protocols rather than hospital abandonment.

Reacting to viral videos shared by Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo—who claimed facilities had stopped treating their father’s stage-four cancer—Dr. Ajidahun explained that such public phrasing could misrepresent health workers and trigger unwarranted hostility against medical personnel.

Understanding stage-four cancer and palliative protocols

The medical practitioner explained that stage-four cancer signifies that the disease has metastasised beyond its primary origin to other body parts. When aggressive treatments like chemotherapy have been fully explored, care strategy shifts toward palliative care.

“When patients have stage 4 cancer and chemo or other therapies have been explored, there is a form of care called palliative care, which focuses on managing associated symptoms and improving quality of life,” Ajidahun noted. “Saying they don’t want to treat my father makes it look like they are intentionally rejecting him”.

Warning against unverified herbal remedies

Dr. Ajidahun also strongly advised the public and the actor’s family against pursuing untested herbal concoctions for advanced cancer, warning that unverified alternative substances risk damaging internal organs and causing severe medical complications.

He emphasised that while he is not directly involved in Ogogo’s medical management, families facing terminal diagnoses must collaborate closely with attending clinical teams to ensure optimal supportive care.
