A man identified as a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, was stripped nude and physically assaulted by a crowd of students following allegations of sexual harassment made by a female student.
The incident unfolded on the university campus in front of the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies.
Video footage circulating across social media platforms depicts a female student leaving an office building in distress, with her clothing disarranged and hair unkempt, crying out for assistance.
Account of the campus confrontation
According to unconfirmed reports, the female student allegedly fled the office while carrying the suspect’s clothing, raising an alarm that he had attempted to assault her. The screams alerted nearby students, who pursued the fleeing suspect.
Subsequent footage shows a group of male students surrounding and physically attacking the man who wrapped an academic gown around himself to protect his modesty.
The gown was, however, yanked off him as he was completely exposed.
The mob attacked him, throwing him to the ground before campus authorities or law enforcement could intervene.
It remains unverified whether formal reports have been lodged with the university management or the Anambra State Police Command regarding both the harassment allegation and the subsequent mob violence.
