Kano lecturer assaulted by student’s husband in ‘sex-for-grades’ trap (Video)

A senior academic in Kano State has been handed over to law enforcement after being caught in a sting operation orchestrated by the husband of a married student.
The academic is accused of withholding the student’s project for two years over her refusal to submit to sexual demands.
The suspect serves as the Head of the Department (HOD) of History and International Studies at Northwest University (formerly Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano).
Reports indicate he is also a visiting lecturer at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN).
Two-year academic holdout ends in sex-for-grades setup
According to circulating reports, the lecturer had allegedly refused to approve the female student’s final academic project for roughly two years because she repeatedly declined his inappropriate advances.
Frustrated by the prolonged academic stagnation, the student eventually confided in her husband. Together, the couple devised a plan to expose the lecturer’s alleged misconduct.
Confronted and handed over to police
The trap was sprung after the lecturer reportedly exchanged messages with the student to finalise a rendezvous. A meeting was scheduled shortly after the evening Maghrib prayers for an alleged sexual encounter.
However, upon arriving at the designated location, the academic was met by the student’s husband alongside a group of individuals.
The situation reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation before the group subdued the lecturer and handed him over to the police.
At the time of filing this report, the police and the management of the affected institutions have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
