Phone technician’s naked body found inside Yenagoa guest house
Female companion absconds
The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 40-year-old man whose lifeless body was discovered inside a lodging facility in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified simply as Felix, an indigene of Cross River State, was a well-known mobile phone repairer operating at the popular Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex in the state capital.
Tragedy struck at a guest house located along Azikoro Road after an early-morning alarm raised by a room cleaner uncovered the technician’s naked body.
An unidentified female companion who had checked into the room with the deceased was nowhere to be found when the discovery was made, raising strong suspicions among emergency responders.
The scene and ensuing arrests
Local sources revealed that several empty sachets of local alcoholic beverages were recovered from the room by police investigators before the scene was formally cordoned off.
The incident attracted a large crowd of sympathisers from the nearby shopping complex, many of whom expressed absolute shock over the sudden death of the technician.
At least three individuals have been taken into police custody for questioning, including the owner of the guest house and the cleaner who discovered the body.
The deceased’s brother, Dennis, was also briefly detained by operatives after being found in possession of the victim’s mobile phone.
He was, however, released shortly after clarifying that a commercial phone-charging operator handed him the device when family members were aggressively trying to reach Felix.
Autopsy and manhunt
Medical personnel are expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, with investigators looking into potential cardiac arrest or substance complications.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched across Yenagoa to track down and question the fleeing woman, who is considered a vital witness in establishing the timeline of events leading up to the technician’s final moments.
