I am safe – Sunday Igboho
Speaking directly to his followers, Igboho used the video address to quell growing anxieties. He assured his global network of supporters that he remains in good health and is actively monitoring the situation.
“Rumours have been circulating, but I want to use this opportunity to assure all my loved ones across the world that I am safe,” Igboho stated. “Those who sustained injuries have now recovered. We will not relent until those disturbing the peace of our land are driven out.”
Details of the Old Oyo National Park ambush
The confrontation occurred during a targeted sweep of the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State. The Iru Ekun security outfit had entered the expansive forest reserve to track suspected kidnappers and armed gangs operating in the region.
Before moving into the dense terrain, the security team had utilised surveillance drones to map out criminal hideouts and track suspicious movements.
However, the mission escalated into a violent firefight when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the advancing operatives.
While multiple members of the Iru Ekun team sustained injuries during the unexpected assault and required medical attention, Igboho emphasised that the setback has not broken their resolve.
Commitment to regional security
Despite the volatility of the ambush, Igboho maintained a firm stance on security in the region. He reiterated that his organisation remains dedicated to flushing out criminal elements from the forests and ensuring long-term safety for local communities.
