Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared insights into why he admires United States President Donald Trump.
Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, hosted by the Save Nigeria Group, Adeboye praised Trump as a transparent and decisive leader who consistently honours his commitments.
While acknowledging that he does not necessarily endorse all of Trump’s actions, the highly influential cleric emphasised that the American leader’s straightforward approach distinguishes him in the political arena.
A politician who keeps his word
Addressing the audience in Washington, Pastor Enoch Adeboye expressed deep respect for Trump’s predictability and commitment to his promises. He noted that, unlike conventional politicians who often switch stances, Trump remains firm in executing his stated agendas.
“I have never met Trump, but I have followed him, and I like him,” Adeboye remarked. “That does not mean I agree with all his ways. What I like about him is this: he tells the truth. He is the best politician I have ever met.”
The RCCG leader explained that traditional professional politicians often say different things to different people to navigate public office. In contrast, Adeboye noted that when Trump announces a plan, he aggressively moves to fulfil it, often executing policies before the public fully anticipates them.
Security concerns and warnings on Nigeria
Adeboye also recalled an incident where he felt compelled to speak out publicly following reports that Trump had warned he could authorise military strikes on terrorist hideouts in Nigeria to combat the country’s security crisis.
While understanding the motivation behind the threat, Adeboye noted that he publicly urged the Nigerian government to take decisive internal actions to prevent foreign intervention.
He pointed out that even the most precise military strikes carry a high risk of collateral damage, potentially putting innocent citizens in harm’s way.

The cleric revealed that he has maintained open lines of communication regarding international relations with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is also an ordained pastor within the RCCG.
Adeboye stated that he advised President Tinubu to directly engage with Trump to provide firm assurances that Nigeria is deeply committed to eradicating terrorism. He believes demonstrating proactive local leadership is vital to fostering stronger diplomatic ties and managing international expectations with the Trump administration.
