The estranged wife of prominent Nollywood actor, Akin Olaiya has ignited intense conversations across social media after opening up about the painful collapse of her marriage and the ultimate betrayal by her ex-husband and best friend, who allegedly married each other.
In an emotional video that has since gone viral, Akin Olaiya’s estranged wife addressed widespread online rumours surrounding her separation, specifically debunking narratives that she simply abandoned her matrimonial home without cause.
“It does not even make sense for someone to just say she packed and left just like that,” she stated, cautioning the public against jumping to malicious conclusions about her private life.
Betrayal by Akin Olaiya and her best friend
The heartbroken woman revealed that the true nature of her heartbreak came after the physical separation, when her Akin Olaiya legally tied the knot with her best friend, who played the role of her chief bridesmaid.
“After all that—after the mistreatment, pain, and everything—the husband ended up marrying your own best friend. What does that mean?” she asked. “Me and my husband are no more, and the two people you trusted ended up betraying you. They really disappointed me.”
Addressing why she had kept the painful details under wraps for so long, she cited cultural values and her family upbringing as the reasons for her initial silence.
“I’m not that kind of person that will just come and say my own side of the story,” she explained. “In our culture, they don’t train us like that. We can’t just come and be exposing someone.”
Dismissing online rumours
The viral video also served as an opportunity for her to clear her name regarding malicious rumours circulating on social media blogs, which claimed she was battling a severe infection.
The woman categorically denied the claims, stating she knew absolutely nothing about where the false allegations originated.
Reflecting deeply on the finality of her divorce, she noted that while the transition was incredibly painful, both parties ultimately had distinct reasons for moving on with their lives.
She refused to let bitterness consume her, describing her ex-partner’s new marriage as his personal choice.
“There’s a different reason for me to leave and for his own different reason to marry my friend. So it’s not a big deal. That’s what he decided to do,” she remarked.
Choosing peace and future love
Instead of dwelling on the heartbreak, the woman revealed she has handed the entire situation over to God and is actively prioritising her mental health and personal growth.
“I choose my peace and happiness over everything, and thank God I’m living my own better life,” she expressed confidently.
Looking ahead, she maintained an optimistic outlook on relationships, concluding with a heartfelt prayer for her future: “I pray that next time, if I marry again, I will marry right by the grace of Almighty Allah.”
