“He ate my jollof rice, slept with me, then blocked me” — Nigerian lady cries out over online crush

A young Nigerian lady has taken to social media to air her profound disappointment after a crush invited her over to his place, ate her jollof rice, slept with her overnight and then blocked her.
The lady recounted her ordeal in a viral video spoken in Yoruba, explaining that the relationship kicked off after a mutual friend posted a video of her on a WhatsApp status. A guy spotted the clip, expressed a keen interest, and asked to be introduced.
“She sent me his picture, and I liked him too because he was actually my crush,” she admitted, recalling her initial excitement when they started talking.
The red flags and the jollof rice request
The situation took a turn when the man invited her over to his apartment, but flatly refused to send any transportation fare upfront.
He reportedly justified his stance by claiming that many women routinely collect transport money from men online and then fail to show up.
Eager to see him and determined to prove her good intentions, the lady decided to fund the trip entirely out of her own pocket. To make matters worse, the crush casually requested that she bring him food on her way over.
Hoping to be a great guest, she spent her own money to buy him a fresh plate of Jollof rice and chicken, fully expecting—based on his assurances—that he would reimburse her for all her expenses before she headed back home.
“He blocked me everywhere”
The lady spent the night at his apartment. However, when the time came for her to depart the following morning, the man’s demeanour completely changed.
He allegedly claimed he was entirely broke, pinning his sudden lack of funds on a client who had supposedly failed to pay him on time.
The real shock came the moment she arrived back at her own house.
“As soon as I got home, this guy blocked me everywhere,” she lamented bitterly. “Imagine if I decide to curse him now. After eating my jollof rice and chicken, and on top of that, sleeping with me, he still blocked me.”
Netizens react
The dramatic narration has sparked a massive wave of mixed reactions across Nigerian social media spaces. While some netizens heavily criticised the man for being shameless and taking advantage of her hospitality, others took the opportunity to warn young women against over-investing financially in people they barely know.
“Jollof rice and heartbreak combo 😂 The guy truly wicked,” one user laughed in the comment section, while another sympathised, writing, “Some men just don’t have an ounce of shame, honestly.”
