A Mississippi real estate agent has been terminated by his firm after a viral video showed him calling law enforcement on a father, Tyler Brodsky, who took his young daughters into a public women’s restroom.
Overstreet Properties, a real estate agency based in Starkville, issued a formal statement cutting ties with the independent contractor, stating that his conduct did not align with company standards or values.
The QuikTrip confrontation goes viral
The incident occurred over the weekend at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama. Tyler Brodsky, a father from Oklahoma, was travelling home from a family trip to Florida with his two young daughters.
Brodsky stated that he opted to use the women’s restroom because the men’s facility was unhygienic.
However, an unverified customer confronted the father inside the building after his wife and mother-in-law reported a male presence in the women’s facility.
The customer dialled emergency services, reporting to the police dispatcher:
“There is a man with two little girls using the women’s bathroom… He’s washing his hands with his daughters right now.”
In footage captured by Brodsky and uploaded to TikTok, the customer could be seen berating the father, insisting that a female gas station employee should have escorted the minors instead and that Brodsky had “no business” being in the facility.
The escalating argument caused Brodsky’s daughters to cry in distress before a QuikTrip employee intervened, shut the door on the complaining customer, and protected the family.
Real estate firm disassociates from agent
As the footage generated millions of views and sparked online outrage, netizens identified the caller as a licensed realtor working for Overstreet Properties.
The company moved swiftly to distance itself from the controversy, clarifying that the individual was travelling on a personal trip completely unrelated to his corporate duties.
The agency’s public statement read:
“The conduct depicted in the video does not reflect the values of Overstreet Properties or the standards we expect of those who represent our organisation… The individual depicted in the video is no longer associated with Overstreet Properties.”
Police clear father of any wrongdoing
In a follow-up video, Brodsky confirmed that three responding police officers arrived at the gas station to assess the situation.
Law enforcement quickly de-escalated the issue, assuring Brodsky that he had broken no laws and done nothing wrong. Rather than penalising the family, officers directed the complaining customer to leave the premises.
Brodsky commended both the responding officers and the QuikTrip staff for comforting his daughters, expressing hope that the viral incident would raise awareness about the unwarranted public harassment parents often face while trying to care for their young children in public spaces.
