This is a classic example of “the chickens coming home to roost,” and internet commentators are absolutely not holding back as they unearthed an old video of the former APC Chairman of Koko/Besse Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Muhammadu Abubakar Birnin Kudu) campaigning for President Bola Tinubu.
It would be recalled that the videos of the former APC chieftain hit social media, showing him in captivity and pleading with Nigerians to come to his aid.
In one of the videos, he lamented that, as old as he was, the kidnappers made him trek long distances in difficult terrains.
He further lamented that he was ill and his companion, whom he identified as Yarya, was also sick, and both of them had no access to medication.
Now, netizens have unearthed a video of him campaigning for President Tinubu’s second term.
He allegedly told his listeners at the rally that Nigeria had significantly improved under Tinubu and urged them to vote for him for another term.
Quoting the video, a net user, Abu Amir with the handle, @SadiqMaunde, wrote:
“This is the APC chairman in Kebbi state campaigning & saying that Nigeria has gotten better under Tinubu, only for him to be kidnapped later.”
Netizens reacted massively to the video with a mix of dark irony and zero sympathy.
Instead of the usual outpouring of concern that follows a high-profile kidnapping, X (formerly Twitter) users are viewing the incident as a harsh dose of poetic justice.
The general sentiment across the comment sections is that the politician is finally experiencing the grim reality of the insecurity he and his political party have downplayed or enabled.
One user, Kingkosec, didn’t mince words, calling it the first piece of “good news” they’d heard in a long time and even suggesting that the bandits target higher-ranking officials next.
Others echoed this sentiment, with user @felixherbt remarking, “I love how he became a victim of the evil he supported!”
Many comments took direct aim at the ruling party’s governance, mocking the irony of a staunch supporter falling victim to the very system they praised.
Commenters pointed out that political affiliations and access offer no real protection when a country’s security architecture crumbles.
“He just had a taste of the good job Tinubu is doing,” another user joked bitterly, while others suggested he spend some extended time in captivity to fully “enjoy” the version of Nigeria he claimed was doing just fine.
While a few lone voices tried to inject some empathy—wishing for his safe return to his family—they were quickly drowned out by a frustrated public that seems completely exhausted by political hypocrisy and rampant insecurity.
