Comedian, DeeOne emerges Lagos Assembly candidate

Popular comedian and former Big Brother Naija reality TV star, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has emerged as the candidate of the BOOT Party for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
DeeOne secured the party’s ticket after winning its primary election held ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to party officials and statements shared by the entertainer.
Announcing his victory on Wednesday night via his Instagram page, DeeOne expressed appreciation to the BOOT Party for what he described as their confidence in his candidacy.
He pledged to represent the constituency effectively if elected.
“I want to thank my party, BOOT Party, for the confidence in voting for me to emerge the winner of the primary election for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I,” he wrote.
He also addressed residents of the constituency, promising to serve them diligently and prioritise their interests if given the mandate in 2027.
“To Ibeju-Lekki Constituency, I, come 2027, by the grace of God, I will be your worker and not your boss,” he added.
DeeOne, who gained public attention through his participation in Big Brother Naija, has since built a career in comedy and entertainment before venturing into politics.
His emergence adds to the growing list of entertainers transitioning into political roles ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties continue to select candidates for various elective positions.
The BOOT Party is expected to formally present its full list of candidates for Lagos State legislative seats in the coming months as preparations intensify for the general elections.
The BOOT Party (Big Order of Outstanding Transformation) is a relatively small and emerging political party in Nigeria, and it is not widely associated with any major national political figures or established power brokers.
Unlike the dominant parties in the country, it has largely built its structure around grassroots mobilisation and lesser-known political actors, with its leadership and internal organisation not prominently visible in mainstream national politics.
