Gunmen have attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and reportedly carted away firearms belonging to officers on duty.

The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Immigration facility located along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Expressway.

According to sources, the attackers stormed the office while commercial activities were still ongoing at the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market.

The assailants reportedly overpowered officers at the facility and disarmed them of their weapons before fleeing the scene.

After carrying out the operation, the gunmen escaped under the cover of darkness, leaving security agencies to assess the situation and begin investigations.

The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the number of firearms taken and whether any casualties were recorded, were not immediately clear.

Reacting to reports of the incident, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said he had yet to receive an official briefing.

“I will provide updates as soon as the necessary information becomes available,” he stated.

The attack comes amid growing concerns over security challenges in parts of Oyo State and other areas of the country, where criminal groups have increasingly targeted individuals, communities, and security installations.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations progress and efforts are intensified to track down those responsible for the attack.
