Lagos billionaire under police probe after his lover alleged he stole her used sanitary pad

A lover of a prominent Lagos billionaire has levelled a bizarre allegation against him that he stole her used menstrual pad from the bin where she disposed of it in her bathroom.
The incident, which has reportedly attracted the attention of the Nigeria Police Force Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi, has also led to claims of intimidation, property disputes and the woman’s sudden relocation abroad over fears for her safety.
According to reports first published by Vanguard News, the unnamed businessman, said to be a major player in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, had allegedly been in a relationship with the woman for over seven years.
Sources familiar with the matter claimed the billionaire had funded the woman’s luxurious lifestyle, including expensive trips and the purchase of a residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Trouble reportedly began after the businessman allegedly visited the woman at her Ikoyi residence while she was menstruating.
The woman said she later discovered when she woke up the next morning that a used sanitary pad she had disposed of in her bathroom bin had disappeared.
Suspicious of the development, she reportedly contacted him and asked him to return from his Banana Island residence to her apartment.
Upon arrival, the woman claimed she confronted the businessman with her findings, and he denied having anything to do with it.
The woman claimed she proceeded to search his bag and found the soiled sanitary pad hidden in one of the pockets.
She claimed the man was unable to offer any satisfactory explanation for why he removed her sanitary pad from the bin.
The woman said the development left her terrified, as she suspected that the item might have been intended for ritual purposes, although no official evidence has been presented to support the claim.
Following the incident, the relationship reportedly collapsed, with the woman accusing the businessman of attempting to repossess properties and valuables he had previously acquired for her.
She further alleged that unidentified individuals linked to the businessman unlawfully entered her residence and carted away a Range Rover and a 2024 Lexus, among other luxury items and cash.
The estranged lover claimed she saw the intruders sent by her billionaire boyfriend on her CCTV system, which she monitored from her location abroad.
The woman also claimed ownership documents relating to the property she occupied were fraudulently altered.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, was said to have directed discreet investigations into the allegations after receiving a briefing from officers handling the case at the SFU in Lagos led by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the unit, Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo.
Police authorities have yet to officially confirm the identities of the individuals involved, while no criminal charges have been announced as investigations continue.
