President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, replacing Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.

The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement released by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the Presidency, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University and is widely recognised for his expertise in digital systems, examination infrastructure, and institutional reforms.

The statement described him as an accomplished academic and technology expert with significant experience in public sector innovation and national examination management.

Aina earned a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent before obtaining a master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security as well as a doctorate in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.

He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

The Presidency noted that the incoming registrar has spent more than 15 years advising both federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional restructuring, and technology-driven reforms.

Aina was also described as one of the youngest professors in the field of Computer Engineering in Nigeria and is expected to become the youngest registrar ever appointed by JAMB.

According to the statement, he previously served as a consultant to examination bodies such as the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly in areas relating to ICT systems and examination security.

The new appointee is also affiliated with several professional organisations, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on the achievements recorded during Oloyede’s administration and further strengthen the examination body through innovation and administrative reforms.
