A grieving mother has alleged that she has lost two sons to police shootings in separate incidents, following the killing of her 28-year-old son, Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as OG Millan, in Delta State.
The latest incident has drawn widespread attention, with Assistant Superintendent of Police Nuhu Usman currently in detention over the fatal shooting, which occurred during an operation by officers attached to the Area Command in Effurun. Authorities say the operation was based on intelligence linking the victim to possession of a firearm.
However, public anger has grown after a viral video surfaced online, appearing to show Oghenemine Ogidi restrained and pleading before he was shot.
During a condolence visit led by former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, the bereaved mother broke down as she recounted her losses, insisting this was not the first time she had lost a child under similar circumstances.
“My two children were killed by the police,” she said emotionally. “They first took my son in 2022, and now they have taken another one from me again. How do I survive this?”
Meanwhile, police authorities have maintained that the individual, identified in official reports as Mene Ogidi, was arrested in possession of a Beretta pistol and ammunition at the time of the operation. Investigations into the incident are said to be ongoing.
