Authorities in the United States have released a picture of the gun seized from Cole Allen, the 31-year-old suspect behind a shooting incident that disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

The incident occurred outside the Washington Hilton Hotel, where about 2,500 guests—including Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and top government officials—were attending the high-profile event.

According to law enforcement officials, Allen attempted to force his way through a security checkpoint while armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

During the confrontation, he exchanged gunfire with a member of the United States Secret Service.

Police said the officer struck during the exchange was protected by a bulletproof vest and did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Metropolitan Police interim chief Jeffery W. Carroll confirmed that the suspect was quickly subdued at the scene.

“He was tackled to the ground and handcuffed by law enforcement,” Carroll said, adding that officers are continuing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the gunfire, President Trump, his wife, and other senior officials were immediately evacuated to safety as security agencies moved to secure the venue.

Officials believe Allen acted alone and had no prior criminal record or known history with law enforcement. However, investigators are examining possible motives.

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche indicated that the suspect may have been targeting members of the Trump administration, “likely including the president.”

Allen, who is from Torrance, California, is expected to be arraigned in federal court as investigations continue.

Authorities are also reviewing writings allegedly linked to the suspect, which may provide insight into his intentions prior to the attack.
