
A married woman and mother of five, identified as Sandra, has slumped and died at the residence of her male friend in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State after complaining of hunger.
Sandra, reportedly from Abia State, was confirmed dead on April 11, 2026, at No. 47 Aitken Road, Sabon Gari, Kano metropolis.
Preliminary accounts from neighbours suggested that she had complained of hunger shortly before her death. Her male companion had reportedly left immediately to get food for both of them when the incident happened.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the development, stating that a report was made by a neighbour who discovered the unconscious woman inside the room.
According to the police, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was examined, and no visible signs of violence were observed on her body.
Sandra was subsequently taken to Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her dead.
The police added that the male friend linked to the incident has been arrested, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed probe.
Authorities assured that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death, with findings expected to be made public upon conclusion.
