Nollywood actress Damilola Oni has opened up about the persistent online harassment she faces, revealing that male followers frequently send her explicit messages and unsolicited images.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actress described the situation as a daily occurrence, particularly on social media platforms where she said she is often objectified.
According to her, many of the messages she receives are inappropriate, with some men making suggestive comments and others sending explicit content without consent.
She added that the messages come from different age groups, including older men, and sometimes include disturbing personal confessions.
Oni noted that the experience has been uncomfortable and difficult to deal with, as it goes beyond admiration and crosses into harassment.
Speaks on career challenges
Beyond the issue of online abuse, the actress also shared insights into her personal life and experiences in the film industry.
She revealed that she is currently single and expressed concerns about how visibility often outweighs talent in Nollywood, noting that those who are more outspoken or attention-grabbing tend to gain more opportunities.
The actress also recounted a difficult moment on a movie set, where she said she was sidelined after waiting for several hours, only to be informed that a colleague was unwilling to work with her.
Despite the setback, she said she accepted a smaller role offered by the producer, adding that she remains determined to continue her career regardless of challenges.
Oni emphasised that she is committed to her craft and will not allow industry obstacles or external pressures to push her out of Nollywood.
