United States special forces have launched an urgent search-and-rescue operation for a missing pilot after a fighter jet was shot down over Iran, marking a sharp escalation in ongoing regional tensions.

The aircraft, identified as an F-15E Strike Eagle, reportedly went down during operations, with Iranian state media broadcasting images of wreckage, including what appears to be the jet’s ejection seat.

US officials have confirmed that one crew member has been rescued alive, while efforts are ongoing to locate the second pilot.

Tehran displays debris, offers incentives

Iranian media outlets have aired footage and images purportedly showing parts of the downed aircraft.

In a controversial move, a television broadcast reportedly encouraged civilians to help capture the missing pilot, offering a “valuable reward.”

Unverified videos circulating online appear to show US aircraft flying at low altitude over southern Iran as part of the rescue mission, with some clips suggesting ground fire directed at the planes.

Regional fallout intensifies

The incident comes amid broader instability across the Middle East, with multiple developments heightening concerns:

Kuwait reported that Iranian strikes hit a desalination facility and an oil refinery.

A French-owned container ship was seen transiting the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, under tense conditions.

A major UAE gas plant has suspended operations following drone and missile threats.

The White House is reportedly pushing for a massive $1.5 trillion defence budget, reflecting growing military demands tied to the crisis.

Search operation continues

The US military has not released full operational details but continues to prioritise the safe recovery of the missing pilot. The situation remains fluid, with military activity and diplomatic tensions rapidly evolving.
