A 14-year-old boy, Eghosa Ogbebor, has been shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in Woolwich, London, prompting a major police investigation and the arrest of three teenagers.

Ogbebor was found unresponsive after emergency services were called to Lord Warwick Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Thursday.

Authorities have since confirmed that two teenagers aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All three suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

A heavy police presence was observed at the scene, with forensic teams setting up a tent on a terrace above a row of shops near The Greyhound pub, where officers have been gathering evidence and reviewing CCTV footage.

Witnesses described hearing a loud bang at the time of the incident. A staff member at a nearby pub said she did not see the shooting but confirmed the sudden noise drew attention to the street.

Local accounts suggest possible attempts by suspects to flee the scene, with one individual reportedly jumping from a height. Another resident claimed police made an arrest shortly after the incident at a nearby shop.

Unconfirmed reports from the area also indicated that a weapon may have been discarded in the River Thames, while some residents alleged the attack may have been planned. These claims have not yet been officially verified by authorities.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the victim’s family, stating that they are receiving support from specially trained officers.

She also acknowledged growing concerns within the community, noting that additional police patrols have been deployed across Woolwich to reassure residents.

Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information or video footage that may assist the ongoing investigation.
