A former chairman of Konshisha Local Government Area in Benue State, Hon. Moses Shirsha, has reportedly died just four days after the sudden death of his wife, Mercy Mngu.
Sources indicate that Mrs. Mngu passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2026, leaving family members and associates in shock.
According to accounts shared by close associates, Shirsha had travelled to his hometown to make burial arrangements for his late wife when tragedy struck again.
He was said to have collapsed and died in the village, compounding the grief already surrounding the family.
A Facebook user, Ukeyima John Ukmoni, who confirmed the incident, described the development as deeply shocking, noting that Shirsha’s wife had appeared to be in good health before her sudden demise.
Another associate, Ankor Kenneth Ter, recounted his disbelief, explaining that he had only recently returned from the village after attending a separate family burial, unaware he would soon be heading back under such painful circumstances.
Friends and associates have continued to express grief over the couple’s deaths, with many describing the situation as a devastating double loss.
Meanwhile, burial arrangements have been announced for the late couple. A wake is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the former chairman’s residence in Makurdi.
Both Hon. Shirsha and his wife will be laid to rest on the same day, Friday, April 10, 2026, at their family home in Shirsha Adeega Village, Mbaasuku, Mbator Gaav, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
