A Ghanaian nurse, Faustina Opoku, who recently relocated to Canada, is set to be repatriated following reports that she is experiencing mental health challenges.
The individual, identified as Faustina Opoku, previously worked at Tafo Government Hospital in Kumasi without any sign of mental illness before recently relocating to Canada.
It was gathered that Opoku started behaving strangely shortly after arriving in Canada.
Her situation gained public attention after a Canada-based content creator, known online as @maamepokuahkumasi, shared details about her condition and appealed for help in locating her family.
According to the content creator, efforts to trace Opoku’s relatives have been successful, clearing the way for arrangements to facilitate her return to Ghana.
She explained that plans are currently being made to ensure the nurse travels safely, either by identifying a passenger heading to Ghana who can accompany her or by personally escorting her on the journey.
The aim, she noted, is to ensure Opoku receives proper care, supervision, and family support once she arrives home.
The content creator also appreciated those who assisted in the process, including Serwaa Broni, who contributed to reconnecting the nurse with her family.
The development has drawn attention to the challenges faced by some migrants adjusting to new environments, particularly in relation to mental health and access to support systems.
