A Nigerian woman who recently married Aboy Chigozor, the disabled son of the founder of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has stirred widespread reactions after clarifying earlier statements about her personal life.

Prior to the wedding, the woman had reportedly suggested she remained “undefiled” despite receiving multiple marriage proposals.

It was generally interpreted that she was a virgin despite her advanced age. This attracted a lot of reactions, with many querying how she could have managed to remain a virgin at her age in today’s Nigeria.

The buzz led to many people sending messages to Apostle Chibuzor to inquire if it was true or not.

The cleric said the messages were so many that he had to leave his home very early in the morning to come to the five-star hotel where his son and his new wife are observing their honeymoon to clarify the situation and put all speculations to rest.

He pointedly asked the new wife of his adopted son if it was true she was a virgin.

The woman responded that she was not a virgin, but a widowed mother of three.

According to her, the decision to marry Aboy was spiritually motivated. She explained that she believed she was acting on divine instruction, describing how she felt led to take the step as part of her faith.

She also portrayed the marriage as a form of sacrifice and service, stating her commitment to care for her husband in multiple roles, including as a partner and companion, regardless of public opinion.

In addition, she shared that she is originally from Edo State, offering more background about herself.

The marriage of Aboy to the older woman has been the talk of the town, with some human rights activists arguing that it was wrong for Apostle Chinyere to marry off a disabled son to anybody because, under the law, he was incapable of giving consent.

They argued that consent is a critical component of the contract of marriage, and in a situation where one of the parties is incapable of constitutionally giving his or her consent, such a marriage cannot stand in law.
