Nigerian singer Adams Olabode Michael, known as Smada or SuperSmada, has denied allegations of sexual assault circulating widely on social media.
The claims, which began trending on X (formerly Twitter), were amplified by entertainment blog Instablog9ja, which reported that the singer was allegedly stopped from travelling out of Nigeria over a potential arrest linked to the accusation.
The alleged accuser, identified by the handle @Chineloge, pointedly accused the singer of being a rapist in a tweet, but never gave details.
She threatened to ensure that the singer goes to jail for the offence, adding that the reason she exercised restraint before now was that she had pity on him upon remembering that he failed JAMB four times at Senior Secondary School 3.
Chinelo also claimed that the singer was stopped at the airport on account of the allegations hanging on his neck.
Smada responds
Smada has since responded, branding Chinelo a liar. He published his UTME scores and stated that he never wrote JAMB four times, as alleged by Chinelo.
“They even carried their campaign to Instablog… I didn’t know I was Pablo Escobar,” he wrote, ridiculing the allegation.
In another post, the singer accused the individual behind the claims of fabricating stories, stating, “That… babe lies for pleasure,” while urging the public to demand evidence before believing the accusations.
He further suggested that the situation may be linked to a prior personal dispute, indicating that the matter dates back several years.
Mixed reactions online
The development has sparked divided reactions online, with some users expressing support for the artist and warning against reputational damage based on unverified claims, while others have called for a thorough investigation into the allegation.
Awaiting official clarification
As of now, no official agency has confirmed the existence of a case against Smada, and the full details of the allegation remain unverified.
