Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and Nollywood soundtrack voice, Onos Nancy Brisibi, has died at the age of 55.

Brisibi passed away on March 23, 2026, following a prolonged illness, bringing an end to a career that left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s gospel music scene and film industry.

Her death was announced in an emotional tribute shared on Instagram by veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, who described her as a deeply devoted Christian and a gifted vocalist whose music inspired many.

“It’s hard to put into words the loss we feel,” he wrote, revealing that she passed peacefully after a long and difficult illness.

Brisibi was widely known for her powerful and soulful voice, which featured prominently in classic Nollywood films such as Domitilla and Blood Money. 

Her contributions helped shape the emotional depth of many productions, earning her recognition as one of the defining voices behind the scenes of Nigeria’s film industry.

Beyond her musical talent, she was remembered by colleagues and loved ones as warm, lively, and full of humour. 

RMD, who described her as both a cousin and close confidant, recalled her vibrant personality, unique charm, and unwavering faith.

Born on November 20, 1970, in Delta State to Apostle Ambrose Oproze Brisibi and Deaconess Mary Koko Brisibi, Onos grew up rooted in Christian values that would later define her ministry through music.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah, her mother, siblings, and a wide network of family, friends, and members of her church, LoveWorld Ministries.

Tributes have continued to pour in from fans and industry figures, celebrating her life, legacy, and the spiritual impact of her music.

Her passing marks the end of an era for many who grew up listening to her voice in Nollywood films and gospel gatherings across the country.
