A 23-year-old medical doctor, identified as T Princy, also known as Shreshtha, has been found dead in her home in Alwal, Hyderabad, following reported disagreements with family members over her decision to adopt a pet cat.
The incident occurred on the evening of March 20, 2026, while she was alone in the house. According to police, her mother and grandmother had stepped out briefly and discovered her unresponsive upon their return, prompting neighbours to alert authorities.
Officials said her body was subsequently taken to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem examination.
According to a statement by Alwal Sub-Inspector Devendra, tensions had arisen in recent weeks after Princy brought a cat home.
Her family reportedly objected to the pet, citing concerns after she began experiencing cold and cough symptoms, which they believed were linked to the animal.
The disagreement is said to have led to repeated arguments within the household.
Police have registered a case of suspicious death and stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities noted that while early indications suggest a domestic dispute, all possible angles are being examined.
Princy had recently completed her medical degree and was preparing for postgraduate entrance examinations. She was also said to be in the process of applying for her medical license at the time of her death.
