A 46-year-old woman, Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe, has died after being attacked by a mob in Kalumbila District, Zambia, following an accusation that she caused a man’s private parts to “disappear.”

How the incident unfolded

Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on March 20, 2026, in the Kisasa area after a 25-year-old man, Prince Ntambo, raised an alarm at a local market.

He claimed that shortly after interacting with the woman, he experienced a sudden and unexplained change in his body.

The accusation quickly caused panic, drawing a crowd that turned violent. The mob reportedly attacked the woman using sticks, stones, and other objects.

Attempted rescue fails

A bystander reportedly tried to protect the victim by hiding her in a nearby house, but the crowd pursued them, dragged her out, and continued the assault.

Police officers who responded to the scene were also attacked, making it difficult to intervene effectively.

The woman later died from her injuries. Her body was recovered by authorities and taken to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead. It has since been placed in a mortuary pending further examination.

Physical examination of Prince Ntambo by professionals later revealed that his genitals were intact.

Authorities confirmed that at least eight suspects, including Prince Ntambo, have been arrested and are assisting with investigations.

Police spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha stated that officers were injured during the chaos, and a police vehicle was damaged by the mob.

Police condemn mob justice

Law enforcement officials have strongly condemned the attack, warning against taking the law into one’s own hands.

They emphasised that such accusations are often unfounded and can lead to tragic consequences.

The incident comes shortly after a similar case in another part of Zambia, where allegations of “disappearing body parts” were later proven false, reinforcing concerns about misinformation and mob violence.
