‘Every student involved in the viral bullying video has been arrested’ Edo police confirm

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of all individuals linked to a viral bullying case at Igbinedion Education Centre, following widespread outrage over a disturbing video shared online.

Bullying incident triggers public reaction

The footage, which circulated widely on social media, showed a student being physically assaulted by peers. 

The severity of the attack sparked concern among parents, residents, and online users, prompting swift action from both school authorities and law enforcement.

In response, the school management expelled several students identified as being involved in the bullying incident.

Police investigation and arrests

According to police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem, the arrests were made after a detailed investigation.

Authorities stated that all suspects will be charged in a family court, in line with laws governing juvenile justice and child protection.

What led to the bullying incident

Preliminary findings indicate that the situation began on March 5, 2026, following a dispute between students. 

Two 14-year-old girls reportedly confronted another student over an alleged insult directed at their late father.

The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation after school hours. During the confrontation, a parent who attempted to intervene was also reportedly attacked.

Retaliation the next day

Police revealed that the following day, March 6, the situation worsened when a male student—whose mother was involved in the earlier incident—allegedly carried out a retaliatory attack.

The victim seen in the viral video was identified as the brother of the girls accused in the initial altercation. Another student reportedly recorded and shared the video, which later fueled public outrage.
