Friend defends singer Segun Johnson after ex-girlfriend claimed he ruined her life
A close associate of popular Nigerian musician Segun Johnson has pushed back against viral claims made by a woman alleging she was recently dumped after spending 13 years in a relationship with Johnson.
The controversy began after a TikTok user identified as Debrakin shared a video claiming her 13-year relationship with the singer ended suddenly.
She accused him of deception and alleged that he broke up with her via a voice note shortly after she relocated from the United Kingdom to Nigeria upon his instructions.
Debrakin had claimed sensationally that Johnson convinced him to abandon her school in the United Kingdom and return to Nigeria.
She claimed she resisted the suggestion, but later succumbed to it, because she loved him and was looking forward to marrying him.
Debrakin said she was, however, shocked to learn that he was planning to marry another woman.
Associate of Segun Johnson disputes claims
Responding to the allegations, the singer’s associate dismissed her account, insisting that the situation had been misrepresented.
According to him, the woman initially travelled to Nigeria for a short-term makeup training program before later deciding on her own to stay closer to the artist.
He further claimed that throughout their relationship, Segun Johnson provided significant financial support.
This reportedly included covering her school fees and rent while she lived in the UK, as well as assisting with accommodation and startup funds upon her return to Nigeria.
Marriage expectations addressed
The associate also stated that the musician had been clear from the outset that marriage was not an option, adding that there was no promise or indication that the relationship would lead in that direction.
He alleged that tensions escalated when the woman insisted on marriage, claiming she had threatened to damage the singer’s reputation if her expectations were not met.
He urged the public to be cautious about accepting her version of events without scrutiny.

The conflicting accounts have sparked widespread debate on social media, with fans divided over whom to believe. While some have called on Segun Johnson to personally address the matter, others expressed surprise at the unfolding drama and the sharply different narratives.
