A Nigerian man has shared his grief online after losing his wife shortly after donating one of his kidneys in an effort to save her life.
The man, identified by his X (formerly Twitter) handle @musco-grins, had earlier revealed that he was preparing to undergo the procedure due to his wife’s illness.
In a post before the surgery, he thanked users on the platform for their support and disclosed plans to temporarily deactivate his account.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me on this app. I’ll be deactivating my account for now. I’m currently in the hospital to donate my kidney to my woman because she is sick,” he wrote at the time.
However, in a heartbreaking update shared later, he announced that the transplant effort did not succeed.
“Jesus, she didn’t survive. She took my kidney with her,” he posted, expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
Mixed reactions online
The post quickly drew widespread attention, with many users offering condolences and sympathising with the grieving husband over his loss.
Others, however, reacted differently, with some comments on social media sparking debate about the situation and the man’s decision.
The story continues to generate reactions online, with many calling for empathy and support for individuals dealing with such personal tragedies.
