Man apprehended after allegedly trying to lure young hawker with ₦1,000 to sleep with her

A man was confronted by residents after he allegedly attempted to lure a young girl who was selling avocados on the roadside with ₦1,000 to sleep with her.

The incident reportedly occurred in a community in South-Eastern Nigeria and was captured in a video by a content creator known online as LordZeus, who became suspicious after noticing the man speaking with the child.

According to the footage circulating online, the content creator approached the pair and questioned the man about his interaction with the girl.

In response, the suspect initially claimed that he was the child’s father.

However, the girl disputed the claim and explained that the man had approached her earlier while she was hawking avocados. 

She alleged that he asked her to follow him to a secluded location, promising to give her ₦1,000 in exchange.

The child further stated that she refused the request, but the man allegedly took out the money and displayed it in an attempt to persuade her to accompany him.

As the confrontation unfolded, several men gathered at the scene and pleaded with the person recording the video to let the suspect go, claiming he was mentally unstable.

According to individuals at the scene, the young hawker was not the first child the man had reportedly approached in a similar manner.

The incident has sparked concern on social media about the safety of children engaged in street trading, as well as calls for stronger measures to protect minors from exploitation and abuse.
