A woman has accused her late sister’s husband of sexual abuse that allegedly led to the woman’s death just days after she underwent a caesarean section.
The allegation was shared on social media by activist and social commentator Laila St. Matthew-Daniel on Facebook.
The aggrieved sister claimed the widower was only shedding crocodile tears as he was responsible for his wife’s death.
She narrated that the deceased woman had recently delivered a baby through a surgical procedure known as a Caesarean section and was still recovering from the operation when her husband used his selfishness to terminate her life.
The bereaved sister claimed that four days after her sister’s caesarean section, the woman’s husband forced her to have sex despite her physical condition and medical advice that she needed time to heal.
“She told him she was still in pain and needed at least two weeks to recover, but he refused,” the sister alleged in the post.
She further accused her brother-in-law of emotional blackmail, saying that he threatened to abandon her sister if she refused to allow him to have his way.
Family members said the deceased had married the man in 2021 and had five children—three boys and two girls—within four years of the marriage.
She further claimed that her sister never disclosed the terrible ordeal she was enduring in the union during her lifetime because she wanted to preserve her marriage.
On the night of the alleged incident, the husband was said to have repeatedly forced himself on her despite her weakened condition.
Hours later, the woman reportedly began bleeding heavily and was rushed to a hospital, where family members were contacted.
Her sister said she found her in a weak state and struggling to speak.
She alleged that her sister managed to reveal some of her past ordeals and allegedly said she regretted ignoring warnings about the marriage.
“She said, ‘My husband has sent me to my early grave,’” the sister recounted in the post.
Many netizens are calling for the arrest of the husband, while others are calling for restraint and proper investigations before conclusions are drawn, especially as the husband’s side of the story has not been obtained.
