
A 13-year-old boy in the United States allegedly knocked his father, Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, unconscious after the man attempted to strangle the boy’s mother during a domestic dispute, authorities have said.
The incident occurred on Monday, March 9, in the city of Foley, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said deputies were called to a residence where a man identified as Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, 32, had allegedly tried to strangle a woman during an argument.
Authorities said Hernandez-Lopez later stepped outside the house where he encountered his 13-year-old son.
According to investigators, the situation escalated when the man allegedly lunged at the boy and attempted to strike him with a bicycle.
In response, the teenager reportedly punched his father several times in the face, knocking him unconscious.
Officials said Hernandez-Lopez appeared to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
He was arrested the following day, Tuesday, March 10, about 1:40 p.m. and taken into custody.
The suspect is currently being held at the Baldwin County Jail.
Online jail records indicate he has been charged with domestic violence by strangulation. Authorities released a mugshot showing the suspect with swollen and bloodied facial injuries.
The case remains under investigation.
