A Kenyan woman, Nelly Nyuttu, has publicly accused her mother-in-law of contributing to the breakdown of her marriage, calling her heartless and evil.
In a lengthy post she shared on Facebook on Monday, 9, 2026, Nyuttu described her relationship with her husband’s mother as deeply strained since the beginning of her marriage.
According to her, repeated attempts to build a cordial relationship with the older woman were unsuccessful, as she felt consistently rejected and criticised.
In the post, Nyuttu alleged that her mother-in-law supported another woman who was romantically linked to her husband.
She claimed the older woman had welcomed the alleged partner into her home and even encouraged her to be a better partner than Nyuttu.
The woman also used the post to detail the challenges she said she faced in her marriage, including accusations of infidelity, lack of financial support, and emotional distress.
Nyuttu said she initially tried to maintain respect for her mother-in-law because of her importance in her husband’s life, but eventually became exhausted by what she described as continuous hostility.
She further claimed she had received videos allegedly showing her husband introducing another woman to his mother.
As a result, Nyuttu announced in the post that she had decided to leave the marriage, saying she would step aside so her husband could be with the woman his mother reportedly preferred.

I have tried to win you over, to show you i’m not competing with you but am tired mamma,am exhausted because it’s a thankless effort!
I came to you as a child, looking for comfort from her mother,a child who wanted your advice and intervention but you turned against me. You said your son is cheating because i am not giving him peace! That i am the problem.
Is peace the lack of intimacy in my bed? Is peace the lack of financial aid? Or it’s the slaps i receive for questioning him?
Mamma you’re a woman first but you’re blind to my pain!
Mamma, they told me he brought a girl home to you, they said you cooked a feast for her, i heard you told her to be a better woman than me! I heard you called me a failure. You told her you don’t recognise my kids or me.
They sent me videos as evidence.
They didn’t lie.
Mamma you have failed me, you have failed your grandchildren, my heart is breaking, but mamma i am not a failure. I am enough mamma but you’re blinded with your need to control your son.
My mother-in-law, I’m leaving your son to the woman you feel is enough for him,i will not insult you but i will tell you this,you should have learned from your own mother in law.
