A man believed to be a victim of “one-chance” robbers has been rescued in the Central Area of Abuja.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday morning, March 8, 2026, along a road close to Coscharis Motors.
The victim, identified as Haruna Usman, said he is a cattle dealer from Adamawa State and had travelled to facilitate the movement of 36 cows that were scheduled to be transported by trailer from Adamawa to Bayelsa State.
According to his account, he initially boarded a small vehicle from Jambutu in Adamawa to Zuba before taking another vehicle around 7:30 a.m. that was heading toward Maraba, where he planned to continue his journey to Bayelsa.
Usman explained that he sat in the front seat of the vehicle while three other passengers occupied the back. During the journey, the occupants allegedly turned on him, forcefully taking his mobile phone and about N350,000 in cash.
He was eventually rescued after passersby discovered him and helped remove a cord that had reportedly been tied around his neck.
The incident adds to the growing concerns about “one chance” robbery operations in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, where unsuspecting passengers are lured into vehicles operated by criminal gangs posing as commercial transport operators.
