Achievers University has expelled more than 15 students for engaging in activities involving explicit videos circulated on social media.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, Bode Ayorinde, disclosed this during the university’s 19th matriculation ceremony held in Owo, where 936 new students were formally admitted.

According to Ayorinde, the disciplinary action affected several students, including a 300-level accounting student identified as Esther Ozo.

She was reportedly involved in the viral “Aunty Shakira” TikTok challenge, which has circulated widely on social media platforms.

He warned students against using social media irresponsibly, stressing that activities capable of damaging the institution’s reputation or their own future would not be tolerated.

Ayorinde noted that the university would not hesitate to dismiss any student found posting inappropriate content online while associating it with the school.

“You place a phone before you and record yourself dancing without proper clothing, and then attach the name of Achievers University. Such behaviour will lead to dismissal,” he said, urging students to use social media platforms constructively.

The university founder also revealed another case involving a final year student who made a video threatening to deal with Boko Haram if they show up in the school.

Ayorinde said this was tantamount to inviting terrorists to the institution, adding that the student’s fee, amounting to N2.3 million, was refunded to him, while he was expelled.

According to him, the student was expelled and his tuition fees, amounting to about ₦2.3 million, were refunded.

Ayorinde further cautioned students against drug use, cyber misconduct, and bullying, emphasising that the institution maintains strict disciplinary standards.

He encouraged students to focus on their studies and personal development, noting that education should prepare them to become responsible leaders rather than engage in activities that could undermine their future.
