A 15-year-old boy has allegedly confessed to killing his aunt, Aishat Gobir, who cared for him from the age of four when he lost his biological mother in Kwara State.

A Nigerian man, Kola Qossim, took to Facebook to celebrate the late Gobir, whom he described as kind-hearted and peace-loving.

He said she was his friend and a former tenant in their family house.

According to Qossim, the Gobir lost her life in her own home in January 2026, but the mystery of her murder was finally unravelled on Friday, March 6, 2026, by police investigators.

The police confirmed they received a distress call on January 14 after the woman was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside her residence.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, preliminary investigations indicated that the teenager, identified as Yusuf, attacked his aunt while she was bathing. He allegedly used household items, including kitchen knives, during the assault.

In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, Qossim explained that his relationship with Aishat Gobir began when she lived in his family’s house as a tenant, but over time, she became much more than that.

“What started as a simple landlord–tenant relationship gradually grew into something deeper. She became someone we respected and interacted with daily. In many ways, she became part of our family,” he wrote.

Qossim also revealed that the teenage suspect had lost his biological mother when he was about four years old.

Aishat Gobir reportedly took him in and raised him in her home, caring for him as though he were her own child.

He recounted that on the day of the incident, Gobir’s husband had briefly stepped out to greet friends while she was taking a bath.

The nephew was said to have been at home and later claimed he had gone out to buy fuel.

According to the account shared, the boy later contacted his uncle, saying he had returned to find Gobir lying motionless in the bathroom. When the husband rushed back home, he allegedly found his wife lifeless in a pool of blood.

Police were immediately alerted and began an investigation.

Qossim said he personally assisted in transporting the body to the mortuary on the instructions of officers, describing the experience as one of the most painful moments of his life.

Initially, both the husband and the teenager were taken into custody as part of the inquiry, as investigators tried to determine what had happened.

However, weeks later, on March 6, the investigation reportedly uncovered a shocking development.

According to Qossim, the teenage nephew confessed to carrying out the attack.

He further claimed during questioning that he had previously been adding a poisonous substance commonly known as Sniper to his aunt’s food.

The boy allegedly said he did so because she often scolded him for returning home late from school.

Qossim said the revelation left family members and acquaintances in deep shock, noting that Gobir had shown compassion by taking in a child who had lost his mother and providing him with care and shelter.

He described her death as a devastating loss to those who knew her and prayed for strength for her husband, children, and relatives as they cope with the tragedy.
