Pastor Chris Okafor withdraws apology to Doris Ogala, others
Says ‘I cannot apologise for what I did not do’

Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has formally withdrawn the public apology he previously issued to actress Doris Ogala and other women over past allegations.
The cleric made the declaration during a church service, stating that his earlier apology had been misunderstood and was given under pressure. He maintained that he could not apologise for actions he insists he did not commit.
Recall that in December last year, shortly before Okafor’s wedding, Ogala publicly accused him of using and abandoning her, an allegation that triggered widespread reactions on social media.
Other claims followed at the time. Before the end of 2025, Okafor apologised and temporarily stepped aside from his pastoral duties.
He later returned to the pulpit to a warm reception from members of his congregation. However, in his latest address, he said the apology was primarily made to shield senior religious leaders from being drawn into the controversy.
Okafor mentioned respected clerics such as Matthew Ashimolowo of Kingsway International Christian Centre and David Abioye, saying he acted to prevent their names from being drawn into the dispute.
He stressed that the matter is currently before the court and declined to make further detailed comments, urging critics to allow the legal process to take its course.
“The matter is in court. Let the court decide,” he said, reiterating that he would not accept responsibility for allegations he denies.
