The Presidency has refuted claims that a kitchen staff member at the Presidential Villa in Abuja was arrested over an alleged attempt to poison President Bola Tinubu.

The clarification was issued on Sunday, March 1, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

He reacted to a viral video circulating online that purported to show scenes from the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, accompanied by a voiceover alleging a serious security breach involving a presidential chef.

In the footage, the narrator claimed that a chef attached to presidential services had been apprehended following intelligence reports of suspicious activities related to food preparation in restricted areas.

The video further alleged that a special police unit intervened swiftly and that heightened security measures were implemented within the presidential environment.

According to the narration, security agencies acted on what it described as credible alerts indicating a potential threat to the president’s safety.

It also suggested that the suspect had been taken into custody for questioning while investigators examined evidence linked to the alleged poisoning attempt.

However, the Presidency categorically dismissed the story as false.

Reacting via social media, Onanuga stated that no kitchen staff member at Aso Rock had been arrested and that there was no attempt to poison Bola Tinubu.

“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video,” he wrote.

The Presidency said the news was fabricated and misleading.
