Activist Detoun calls for action against influencer King Mitchy over alleged suicide stunts
Activist Detoun Onabanjo has urged authorities to remove social media influencer King Mitchy from online platforms following two controversial incidents during a live broadcast.
Detoun condemned what she described as “fake” suicide attempts carried out during a livestream session.
According to her, the influencer allegedly consumed harmful substances on two separate occasions while claiming she intended to take her own life.
In response to the incidents, Detoun said she had contacted operatives of the Rapid Response Squad and notified the office of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos.
She also disclosed that a formal notification had been sent to the official Instagram page of the Nigeria Police Force regarding the influencer’s actions.
The controversy reportedly stems from an online dispute between King Mitchy and social commentator Very Dark Man.
During the livestream sessions, the influencer was seen drinking substances she described as harmful while making alarming claims.
Following the broadcast, King Mitchy released a statement asserting that she had been hospitalised in Abuja as a result of the incident.
However, the hospital she mentioned reportedly denied admitting her and stated it had no record of treating her.
The incidents have sparked debate online, with calls for stricter regulation of content that may mislead or distress viewers.
