A Nigerian pastor identified as Dr. Bola Abiodun has publicly apologised following a series of controversial posts on X (formerly Twitter) involving a user known as Mama Abigirl.

In the posts, Abiodun announced he had been summoned to answer a query on his exchange with the X user.

Trouble started when Mama Abigirl referred to the cleric as Mr Abiodun. This infuriated Abiodun who corrected her that he was a medical doctor and also a prince from Osun State.

Mama Abigirl ignored the corrections and continued to call him Mr. Bola Abiodun, even using small letters to spell the Mr.

Abiodun threatened he would curse her if she did that one more time. The lady went ahead to type mr abiodun many times.

The cleric then issued a curse saying that if she did not pass away in her sleep by 11pm on February 23, 2026, he was not a man of God and he was a bastard.

On the 24th of February, Mama Abigirl was still living and went ahead to post the DM the cleric allegedly sent to her wherein he explained why he was angry at the lady.

Many netizens attacked the cleric, saying his curse was worthless as the lady was still alive. The cleric responded that he changed him mind and allowed her to live because she begged him in the DM.

Many netizens demanded evidence that Mama Abigirl begged him, but he explained that his phone’s storage was full and could not take screenshot.

The cleric has now apologised for all his tweets.

He expressed regret over comments he admitted may have made the woman feel threatened, saying he was offended by what he described as being addressed without his preferred titles.

He stated that he felt disrespected considering the years he spent in medical school and his royal heritage as a prince in his village in Osun State.

The pastor also described himself as an ambassador of Christ, noting that his words should reflect gospel principles.

He acknowledged that behavioural change is a better form of apology and said he considers himself a “work in progress,” seeking understanding from the public.

Abiodun further apologised to his wife and family, stating that he regretted bringing unnecessary drama and insults to them. He expressed hope that forgiveness would strengthen their relationship.

Dr. Bola Abiodun revealed that he had been summoned to the headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to respond to a query regarding his social media posts.

He added that the development might result in his suspension from his position as a parish youth pastor and said his previous tweets did not represent the church’s principles.

Reactions on social media have been mixed, with some users condemning the earlier threatening tone of the posts while others focused on the apology and call for reconciliation.
