Girl,16, arraigned for slashing mate with razor over alleged boyfriend-snatching in Badagry
A 16-year-old girl has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Badagry, Lagos State, for slashing her mate with a razor over alleged boyfriend-snatching.
The defendant, whose identity was withheld due to her minor status, appeared in court on Monday, February 23, 2026.
She is facing charges of threat to kill and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. She pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
According to the prosecutor, Friday Mameh, the incident occurred on February 20 at about 9:00 p.m. at Khalakuta Jegba Quarters in Badagry.
Mameh told the court that the defendant allegedly used a razor blade to cut the complainant’s face in a bid to intimidate her into ending a relationship with the boyfriend in question. He further stated that the incident caused panic within the neighbourhood.
“The defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by creating pandemonium in the area,” the prosecutor said.
The prosecution added that the complainant sustained injuries and that the defendant was later apprehended and handed over to the police.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate A. J. Aina granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12.
The matter was adjourned until March 30 for mention.
