Burna Boy reportedly converts to Islam — Socialite Rahman Jago claims singer is now Muslim
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, is at the centre of a fresh social media buzz after claims surfaced that he has converted to Islam.
The development has stirred reactions across social platforms amid Ramadan observances.
The report emerged on 26 February 2026, when socialite and fashion entrepreneur Rahman Jago took to X and Instagram to share a video of Burna Boy reciting what appeared to be a quote from the Qur’an, captioned “Allahu Akbar.”
In accompanying posts, Jago stated emphatically that the ‘African Giant’ crooner has now “fully embraced Islam” and is a Muslim.
While the video clip has gathered thousands of likes and comments expressing support and congratulations from fans, there is no official confirmation from Burna Boy himself as of this report.
Another clip has now been released showing Burna Boy discussing faith in a livestream interview for an international audience. He can be heard saying he believes human beings are creations, which then means there must be a creator.
The singer said many people had come up with their own concepts of a creator, confusing him in the process.
He then disclosed that he had chosen to go with Islam.
Responding to inquiries on X, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad said that “some people close to him said he converted to Islam,” but underscored that a direct confirmation from the singer is still pending.
The claims come against the backdrop of Burna Boy’s previously shared spiritual journey. The 34-year-old artist has on multiple occasions discussed his religious exploration, revealing that he was raised a Christian before later embracing Islam in his personal quest for spiritual truth.
Burna Boy’s music career has seen him become one of Africa’s most prominent cultural exports, with multiple Grammy nominations and globally successful Afrobeats hits. It remains to be seen whether the entertainer will issue an official statement regarding his faith journey and the current viral claims
