A Nigerian woman has narrated what she described as an awkward yet amusing experience she had while dining with her sister at a restaurant in Ikoyi, Lagos, during a vacation.
In her account, she explained that after they finished their meal and asked for the bill, a waiter informed them that a group of men had already settled the payment on their behalf.
According to her, she and her sister simply acknowledged the gesture from their table by nodding and saying “thank you,” without walking over to meet the men.
However, the situation reportedly took an unexpected turn about 10 minutes later.
The waiter allegedly returned to their table to relay a new message: the men had changed their minds and wanted the sisters to pay for the meal themselves because they did not approach their table after the bill was covered.
Reacting to the development, the woman remarked that some men “can be funny,” adding that certain individuals attempt to “weaponise their provision.”
She emphasised that she and her sister were not financially stranded and did not require anyone to pay for their food.
A video of her recounting the experience was shared online. You can see it here.
